Founded in 2005, Sonoma Orthopedic Products is a venture-backed company located in Santa Rosa California. We provide implants that allow orthopedic surgeons to quickly and easily repair problematic bone fractures. Our innovative WaviBody™ Technology enables minimally invasive surgical access to improve patient recovery and satisfaction. Sonoma Orthopedics has applied for patents on two technology platforms that uniquely address fracture fixation.

 

Management Team


Glen Coleman – President and CEO
Glen joined Sonoma Orthopedic Products as President and CEO in October 2007, bringing over thirty years of medical device experience. Prior to joining SOP, Glen held senior level sales, marketing, and R & D positions at Wright Medical, Xomed, Concept, Inc. (now Linvatec), and Richards Medical (now Smith & Nephew). Glen received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Charles Nelson – COO, Founder
Charles has led design and development teams in the medical device market for over twenty-five years. Sonoma Orthopedic Products, Inc. was founded in 2004 from his earlier personal intellectual property and private research in bone reinforcement, fixation, and repair. Prior to founding SOP, Charles spent eight years in orthopedic product development with Stryker Corporation. He is the named inventor on twelve patents, including the third-generation bone cement mixing technique, known as the Hi-Vac Cement System™, for Stryker Corporation. He and SOP co-founder Heber Saravia designed and patented the successful StrykeFlow Suction Irrigator™. Charles was responsible for the design teams team at Therasense, Inc. (now part of Abbott Diabetes Care), which launched the Flash glucose meter, the fastest growing blood glucose monitor in the world; designed the Navigator continuous monitor; launched the Cozmonitor meter, in conjunction with Deltec, a division of Smiths Medical; and integrated the Therasense meter technology into the handheld device that supports the Insulet disposable pump. Charles holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and Master of Science degree in Materials Engineering from Northwestern University.
Guy K. Williamson – Senior VP, Marketing & Business Development
Guy joined Sonoma Orthopedic Products in November of 2009 and brings over 25 years of experience in the medical device and health care industry. Guy has extensive global business experience having lived and worked on four continents. Prior to joining Sonoma, Guy held executive level positions in general management, sales and marketing at Medtronic, Xomed, Zimmer, Linvatec and Chesebrough-Ponds.

 

Guy received a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Thunderbird the School of Global Management Glendale, Arizona.
Joe Sinkovich – Senior VP, US Sales
Joe joined Sonoma Orthopedic Products in May of 2010 and brings 20 years of experience in the medical device and healthcare industry. Joe has extensive sales management and business experience having developed a number of sales organizations that specialize in market creation. Prior to joining Sonoma, Joe held executive management positions with Salient Surgical, Wright Medical and Xomed Surgical. Joe received a BS in Biology from The University of North Texas.
Philippe Ballaire – VP, Marketing
Philippe joined Sonoma Orthopedic Products as the Western Regional Director in September 2008. He was promoted to Vice President of US Sales in June 2009 then to Vice President of Marketing in May 2010. Prior to joining SOP, Philippe spent 14 years in the industry holding positions in sales and management at Bristol Meyers Squibb, Cyberonics Inc., and Integra. Philippe received a Bachelor in Physiology and a Minor in Chemistry from San Francisco State University.
Carlos Gonzalez – VP, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs
Carlos has over thirty-five years experience in the medical device industry, including roles in engineering, operations, quality, and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Sonoma Orthopedic Products, Inc., Carlos served fourteen years as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Endoscopy division of Stryker Corp. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona.
Tim Slayton – VP, Finance and Administration
Tim has a Masters in Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of San Francisco. He has spent the last twenty-five-plus years working in manufacturing, at progressive stages. His career started at Anderson Consulting (now Accenture) and has included high tech startups and mature manufacturing businesses.
